The hires are just the latest in a growing trend that has seen increasing numbers of high net worth clients and their advisers jumping ship from the big incumbent wealth managers including big four and Wall Street-owned banks to boutique firms.

Private wealth manager Koda Capital has picked up another two advisers for its fast-growing team.

Street Talk can reveal the boutique wealth advisory firm has lured Alison Matthews and Justin Lucas from Commonwealth Bank’s private bank, taking its partner numbers to 37.

Matthews joined Commonwealth Private in 2005 and prior to that, had a stint at Goldman Sachs in London as an analyst. Lucas spent eight years at CBA and has also worked at JBWere and UBS Wealth Management.

The hires are just the latest in a growing trend that has seen increasing numbers of high net worth clients and their advisers jumping ship from the big incumbent wealth managers including big four and Wall Street-owned banks to boutique firms.

Established in 2015, the Steve Tucker and Paul Heath-led Koda Capital has been one such beneficiary, snapping up advisers from rivals including JBWere, UBS, Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley and Macquarie.

Koda now directly manages more than $5 billion in client assets, across its Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne offices.
